A mentor recognises an individual who has less experience, cultivates her potential and talents, and helps her succeed. – Competent Leader manual
Most of us join a club like Spa Speakers because we want to develop our skills in public speaking and leadership. By regularly attending meetings, working through the Toastmasters educational program and benefiting from the support of existing club members who seem to us so confident and accomplished, many of us transform from shrinking violets to genuinely confident speakers.
It’s easy to forget those confident and experienced members we so admire were also once shrinking violets, and they got to where they are now through regularly attending meetings, working through the educational program and benefiting from the support of existing club members who seemed to them so confident and accomplished….
That’s the virtuous circle that makes Spa Speakers the friendly, supportive and fun place that it is: every generation gains confidence and skills in speaking and leadership, and then passes it on to the next….and so it goes on!
But what’s fuel that keeps this virtuous circle running?
It’s the incredible satisfaction that comes from helping another person overcome their fears and fulfil their potential.
That, above all, is the reason you should consider mentoring.
Want to mentor? Need to find out more? Then get in touch with the committee at the next meeting, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The best way to find out if it’s for you is to try it! Visit us as a guest, totally free, with no obligation to join, and see if we have something to offer you.
