As enthusiastic Spa Speakers, we want to play our part in making the club super successful, don’t we?
Here is something really simple and easy that you can start doing right away that would not only make every meeting run smoother, but will also help your fellow members achieve their educational goals more quickly.
Yes, you, as a member, can have such a profound impact by doing just one simple thing.
What, you ask?
Drum roll please……..
Responding to the email pictured below as soon as you get it!
This is the email that asks you to tell us if you will or will not be at the next club meeting.
Why is responding to this email so important?
If the vice president of education knows you are coming to a meeting, he or she can offer you a meeting role that matches your educational requirements; our goal is making sure you get the most value out of your attendance.
If, on the other hand, we don’t know you are coming because you didn’t respond, we would likely disadvantage members who have said they’re coming. How? By allocating the role to you when you don’t turn up, the member who could have done it and would benefit most from doing it is not given the time they need to prepare for lack of notice.
We obviously can offer the role to an alternative member on the day, but taking on a role last minute adds unnecessary pressure to whoever volunteers, particularly newer members. Not ideal.
Also think about the impact on meeting organisation: finding people to fill role vacancies last minute is stressful for the VPE, and, when volunteers are scarce, proceedings tend start late and that means everyone finishes late as a result. Argh!
For all of these reasons, the simple act of letting us know you are coming to a club meeting as soon as you receive the email invitation has a HUGE impact.
Simple really: respond to the email as soon as you see it
We know it can be hard to keep track of the many emails that flood our inbox everyday and it can be easy to lose our meeting invitation in that torrent. To stop that from happening, why not respond to the email as soon as you receive it, then delete it straight away? You only have to click the link in the email and you’re done! It’s not too difficult, promise.
